Fingab is a small leather goods workshop in the heart of Puglia, in Monopoli.
I'm Pierdomenico, the only designer and creator of Fingab Leather.
At the age of sixteen I started experimenting with my first leather works and now, in my free time, I understand that it is a profession that fascinates me, completes me and that I want to continue.
Nature has always played an important role in my life.
My main sources of inspiration are the Apulian landscapes that surround me, the countryside, the woods, the sea.
My approach to every object I make is mainly emotional. It gratifies me to create something beautiful, as close to perfection as possible, based on practicality and lasting over time.
The leather I have chosen to use is exclusively natural vegetable tanned cowhide certified by the Consortium of Genuine Italian Vegetable Tanned Leather .
I decided not to use any electrical equipment, I sew everything by hand, bevel with a fir wood cone and polish the leather with cotton and cashmere wool cloths.
Fingab sounds like an Anglo-Saxon sounding name but in reality it is my history, my past, my origins.
FIN GAB is the union of two "agnomes" (or nicknames).
Her paternal grandmother, Lucia Miccolis, the only grandmother I have known, wife of the shoemaker Domenico Mongelli " Bruccl ", her name was " Luciett a finocch " - and hence the FIN .
His maternal grandfather, Domenico Bianco, husband of “ Rosett a gonnell ”, creator of animal-drawn wagons, or rather “ mest scarrett ”, known as “ Mingucc Gabb ” - and here is the GAB .
